About the theme of "Capstone experience"

As I delve into the capstone experience, I translate its integrative nature onto canvas through psychogeography-influenced abstract maps.

Using a palette dominated by black shapes contrasted with vibrant orange
and warm colors, I symbolize the culmination of knowledge and skills gained throughout the educational journey.

Each color tape and yarn strand represents a component of the capstone process, weaving together the diverse learning elements into a cohesive narrative.

The black shapes on the canvas serve as anchor points, representing
the foundational knowledge acquired during the educational program.

As the project progresses, vibrant orange hues emerge, symbolizing the synthesis and integration of various disciplines and perspectives.

The warm colors that permeate the canvas evoke a sense of passion and enthusiasm, reflecting the dedication and commitment required to complete the capstone project.

Through this abstract representation, I aim to capture the transformative journey of the capstone experience, from initial exploration to final synthesis.

The interplay of colors and shapes mirrors the dynamic nature of learning, where diverse ideas and perspectives converge to create a holistic understanding of complex concepts.

These paintings serve as a visual testament to the transformative power of education and the profound impact of the capstone experience on personal and intellectual growth.

+ Materials & process

Materials operate as active elements within the composition.

Color tape establishes boundaries and directional shifts, yarn traces fragile connections across the surface, and wood blocks introduce weight, interruption, and architectural resistance.

Together, these materials disrupt the painted field, allowing the canvas to behave like a lived environment, layered, negotiated, and in constant motion.

+ About the theme of capstone
   experience

Plus Minus Playground is a series where I channel emotional contradictions, tension, anticipation, and playfulness through a language of abstract geometry, thread, and symbolic marks.

My process begins with mapping intuitive gestures onto a raw canvas: taped lines, yarn grids, LEGO bricks, and found plastic parts are arranged like fragments of a scrambled code or echoes of urban circuitry.

Each "+" and "–" becomes a sign of presence and absence, a negotiation between control and disorder.

I intentionally build onto the back of each canvas, embedding small objects that distort the surface and fracture its expected flatness.

This subtle intervention adds dimensionality, pushing the work towardsculptural terrain, inviting the viewer to question what lies beneath, not just what is seen
