DESTRUCTURED GRIDS       MIXED MEDIA ART SERIES MADE IN 2017       PHILIPPE HALABURDA       BROOKLYN, NY

Geographic abstraction

In exploring geographic abstraction, I draw inspiration from the grid-like structures inherent in maps and cartography. I reinterpret these grids through geometric compositions to create abstract topographies that evoke the essence of geographical landscapes.

By breaking the grid's rigidity and manipulating its elements,
I introduce fluidity and dynamism into my compositions, allowing
for a more organic representation of geographical features.

Using a combination of geometric shapes, lines, and patterns,
I construct compositions that capture geographical formations' intricacies while retaining abstraction elements.

By incorporating elements of randomness and spontaneity, I create art transcending traditional cartography, offering viewers a unique perspective on the natural world.

Through this process, I aim to challenge conventional notions
of geographic representation and invite viewers to explore
the landscape's interplay between structure and fluidity.
