ABSTRACT COGNITION ON CANVAS PHILIPPE HALABURDA STUDIO IN AIX-EN-PROVENCE, FRANCE JULY 2016

Fragments of Provence
Abstract cognition on canvas, Aix-en-Provence, 2016
This is the journey through an urban or natural landscape, on which aesthetic contours of the surrounding architecture
and geography directs me to encounter an entirely new introspection.
It includes both this letting-go and its contradiction: the domination of psycho-geographical variations
by the knowledge & calculation of their possibilities.
During the time of life change between France & New York, I dropped my relations, my work, my leisure activities,
& all my other usual motives for artistic creation & ambition.
It is not a planned process. I am still on the path of my own "dérive" started in Spring 2015.
By juxtaposing these diverse elements, I seek to highlight the interconnectedness of communities and how they contribute to the vibrant mosaic of the city.
In creating these abstract topographies, I draw inspiration from the complex interactions and intersections that define New York's urban landscape.
By layering shapes and patterns, I aim to convey the multifaceted nature
of the city's communities, exploring how they evolve and adapt.
Through my artwork, I hope to celebrate the diversity and resilience of
New York's residents showcase the beauty and complexity of their shared experiences within the larger tapestry of the city.
