Paper is where I think out loud. Unlike canvas, which carries weight, permanence, and scale, paper allows for immediacy. The gesture lands faster. The color moves differently. The surface responds without resistance. Every series begins with a parallel investigation on paper: the same emotional territory, the same psychogeographical impulse, but translated through a medium that allows more risk and more freedom. I work in series of unique pieces per year, each one a study that stands on its own while feeding back into the larger canvas practice. Paper's texture, grain, and surface also introduce unpredictability, the acrylic pools differently, the tape adheres with more tension, the color relationships shift in ways that canvas wouldn't allow. These are not studies or sketches. They are complete works, intimate in scale, direct in emotion.
