In Art history, landscape painting thus makes it possible witness to climate change & especially the Little Ice Age, which manifests itself in the taste for representation of the snow & the cold during the "Dutch Golden Age" in the 17th century.
Winter landscapes with frozen canals & creeks also abounded.
I have all these subjects in mind when I did this series Upstate New York just after my first winter in the City.
