How to make the sidewalk stand out?

When I walk in the streets of Brooklyn, i like to contemplate each concrete slab.

For me, I see analogies to the Agnes Martin work: square size and minimal lines.

I plan soon to use this support to create outdoor art pieces. 

The texture is here and the gray color of the pavement will permit to see immediately the strokes or shapes in color.
