Ghost geographies
About the theme of "ghost geographies"
Exploring the promise and failure of utopia in politics reveals profound consequences reverberating through the communist East and the
capitalist-democratic West.
From the Eastern perspective, the remnants of shattered dreams linger,
haunting landscapes scarred by the pursuit of an ideal society.
These scars are tangible reminders of the human cost of utopian visions gone awry, symbolizing dashed hopes and broken promises.
In contrast, the Western perspective offers a different lens through which
to view the consequences of utopian aspirations.
Here, the allure of capitalist democracy promises prosperity and freedom,
yet beneath the veneer lies a landscape marked by inequality, disenchantment,
and disillusionment.

The pursuit of individual wealth and success often comes at the expense
of communal well-being, fostering a sense of alienation and disconnection from the broader social fabric.
In my artistic representation of these themes, I seek to reinforce visually
the collateral effects of utopian ideals while exploring the more elusive abstract geographies of memory and imagination.
Through juxtaposing concrete imagery and ethereal abstraction, I invite viewers to contemplate the complex interplay between past and present, reality and myth, as they navigate the landscapes of political utopia and
its aftermath.
