ABSTRACT ASSEMBLAGE ON PAPER      SEEIDO LUUDO SERIES      PHILIPPE HALABURDA STUDIO     2023

The lifecycle of plastic

About the theme of "the lifecycle of plastic"

In this tactile series, I embark on an exploration of
the transient beauty and inevitable decay inherent
in the lifecycle of plastic.

Using plastic sheets, tape, and zip ties, I weave a visual commentary on the journey of plastic from creation
to decomposition.

The initial stages of creation mirror the structured and intentional birth of the plastic industry, with each component meticulously crafted to form a cohesive whole.

As time passes, however, the layers begin to peel, the tape frays, and the zip ties loosen—symbolic of the wear and
tear experienced by plastic in our world.

This gradual deterioration reflects the reality of plastic's lifecycle, as it succumbs to the forces of nature and
the passage of time.

With each stage of decay, the abstract vision evolves, embodying the process of decomposition through fragmented connections and distorted forms.

Tangled webs of plastic sheets represent the entanglement of plastic within ecosystems, while the distorted tape signifies its altered state as it breaks down over time.

Through this series, I aim to shed light on the environmental impact
of plastic and provoke contemplation on the consequences of our reliance
on this ubiquitous material.

By visually articulating the lifecycle of plastic, I hope to inspire conversations about sustainability and encourage reflection on our collective responsibility to safeguard the planet for future generations.
